The Farakunku Foundation has its origins at Farakunku Lodges, a small eco-friendly hotel based in Tujering village in the south of The Gambia. Firmly embedded in the local community, owners Heather and Moses have long supported families in their immediate surroundings. They have joined with Alex, Hannah-Fleur and Francine, who between them have over 33 years’ experience working in the charity sector, to create the Farakunku Foundation, and ensure that many more families can have access to education and vital healthcare. All five founding Trustees work for the Farakunku Foundation on an entirely voluntary basis.
Kemo Fatty, vice-principal at Tujering Upper Basic School, volunteers for the Farakunku Foundation, assessing families who apply for support, maintaining contact with them and ensuring we can feedback to our supporters on how we are able to help.
For more information on what we’re doing, read our Annual Report.
